The Story of Jeffrey Craig LaBeouf, a Convicted Sex Offender
Jeffrey Craig LaBeouf is the father of American actor and filmmaker Shia LeBeouf, who is known for his role in the television show Even Stevens, for which he won a Daytime Emmy award. Besides his relationship with his son, Jeffrey has made a name for himself. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Additionally, he is a registered sex offender- he served three years in prison for attempted rape.
He is a Veteran
Jeffrey Craig LaBeouf is a war veteran. He was a serviceman and served in the Army during the Vietnam War in the 1970s. For his service, Jeffrey has been receiving a pension through which he has managed to cover his financial needs. After failing to keep track of his record as a sex offender, Jeffrey escaped to Costa Rica. There were claims that his son Shia was financing his stay in Costa Rica. However, Jeffrey refuted those claims noting that the money he was receiving for his years of service was enough to cater to his needs. He further noted that if the need arose, his children would step up and help him.
Drug Addiction and Legal Issues
Jeffrey suffered from drug addiction. He was struggling with alcohol and other drug addictions and it had become tough for him to quit. His addiction issues were made worse by his financial struggles. He was often having fights with his wife over financial struggles, and he had to turn to alcohol and other drugs for company.
His addiction made his relationship worse, and at some point, he had to mend it. Jeffrey wanted to change for the better, and as a result, he joined a rehabilitation center to be better for his son. After getting out of rehab, Jeffrey continued to struggle with alcohol. His son noted that when he was ten years old, he had to watch his father struggle with heroin withdrawals. This was devastating, and Shia wished the best for his father. However, he had to act as his benefactor.
Besides his addiction struggles, Jeffrey Craig LaBeouf has had his run-ins with the law. Even before Shia was born, Jeffrey had served some prison time for attempted rape. While narrating the scenario, Jeffrey noted that he was heavily intoxicated and was high on cocaine. When he was brought before the judge, he pleaded guilty to the charges, and he was quite devastated upon seeing the victim. It was a turnaround moment for him as he served three years for his crimes.
In an interview, Jeffrey noted that he might be a convicted sex offender, but he has never committed any crimes since the 1980s.
His Son
Jeffrey’s son began his career in the entertainment industry when he was ten years old. He claimed that he was experiencing a hostile environment and had to turn to comedy for his well-being. Shia got into acting so that he could help his family with finances. His major role came in 2000 when he landed a role in the series, Even Stevens. This appearance earned him a Daytime Emmy award and was able to earn enough to take care of his family’s financial needs.
