In the past 50 years Costa Rica has legally reserved 168 national parks, forest lands and seacoast regions, estimated at 25% of all its land surface, more than any other country in the world. When combined with the yearly rainfall of 100 inches in the lowlands and up to 300 inches (25 feet) up in the mounts it’s understandable why Costa Ricans are considered such passionate environmental conservationists.
On the South-West corner of Costa Rica, just North of the Panama border, the province of Puntarenas offers a rather unique environment combining the dense rainforests and the Pacific Ocean. The property for sale is in the Gulfo Dulce, protected on the West side by the Peninsula Osa creating an unusually calm waterway with direct access to the Pacific Ocean. This rather unique location provides rolling hills, tall trees and vegetation, on a total of 48,56 hectares (120 acres) with 3.5Km of beachfront, with the National Park of Piedras Blancas on the East, the Forest Reserve Golfo Dulce on the North and the infamous National Park of Corcovado in the Peninsula Osa on the West.
Surrounded by rainforests the entire region is considered biological intense providing an incredible experience with endangered plants and animal species including 140 different mammals, 400 bird species, 500 different trees, 116 amphibians and reptiles, macaws
parrots, quetzals, red-eyed tree frogs, crocodiles, pumas, jaguars, etc. In the Pacific Ocean you may appreciate humpback whale watching, dolphins, four species of turtles, deep sea fishing and other aquatic sports.
The property provides a land access point of 5Km from R245, which connects to the intercontinental R2, leading to San Jose International Airport. The drive from SJO to Golfito is estimated at 5 hours while a domestic flight is more like 45 minutes. The drive from the local airport of Golfito to the property is less than 30 minutes. A second local airport of Puerto Jimenez is also only 30 minutes by boat across the bay to the property.
